Custom Metalwork

Custom Metalwork Dallas-Fort Worth

Decorative and architectural metalwork that goes beyond the roof.

Beyond the roof line

The same shop that makes Knox's roof flashings also fabricates the architectural details that make a custom home feel custom. Bay window pans, dormer cladding, copper accents, custom corbels, decorative elements — anything that can be formed from sheet metal.

Knox works directly with architects, custom home builders, and homeowners on bespoke metalwork. We read drawings, consult on profiles, fabricate prototypes, and deliver finished pieces that align with the architectural intent of the home.

What we fabricate

From architectural details to decorative elements

Sheet metal capability, extended.

  1. Bay window & dormer pans

Formed copper or painted-steel pans for bay windows, dormers, and architectural projections — integrated with the roof's flashing system.

  2. Decorative elements

Corbels, brackets, finials, and accent pieces — fabricated to architect drawings or matched to historic references.

  3. Copper specialty work

Copper cupolas, caps, finials, and accent features. Copper patinas beautifully over decades.

  4. Architect collaboration

We read drawings, consult on profiles, and offer manufacturing feedback early — before details become problems.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work from architect drawings?

Yes — we're comfortable reading drawings, details, and specs. We also offer manufacturability feedback early in the design phase.

Can you fabricate just one or two custom pieces?

Yes — one-off and small-batch work is part of what makes the shop valuable. No minimum.

What metals do you work in?

Copper, galvanized steel, and painted steel. Copper and painted steel are the most common for architectural work.

Do you handle historic restoration profiles?

Frequently. Highland Park and Preston Hollow have lots of historic homes with profiles we've matched repeatedly. Bring photos of the original.
